During the proceedings of PIL 770/1995 in the Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat, the idea of carrying the treated effluent from all the industrial estate’s CETPs outlet to downstream of river Sabarmati is emerged.
As a results in the year 2001, AMC has taken responsibility and lay the Megaline of 27 km from Naroda to Pirana on PPP model.
On 01/10/2016, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of ACS, I&M department and decided to form a SPV for Megaline operation and responsibility of operation and maintenance is handed over to industries association.
Hence, in November 2016 an SPV “Ahmedabad Mega Clean Association” is formed and by virtue of post, VC-MD GIDC is appointed as a Chairman, CE GIDC is CEO, CEO GESCSL-Vatva has become Jt. CEO and chairmen of each CETP has become director of the company.
